The Unsafe Journal is the publishing arm of The Unsafe House, a multidisciplinary collective based in Amsterdam. It is an online literary and visual arts publication conceived as an extension of the collective’s artistic program and as a magazine for writing and visual art that should not exist in polite company.

Founded in 2026 by software engineer and poet Hichem Touati, former comedian Sina Khani, enabler Ruth Spetter, and spiritual leader Tarik Sadouma, the journal was established to provide a dedicated venue for artistic and intellectual work that resists cultural consensus.

The publication presents fiction, essays, visual art, poetry, provocations and mythologies. Its only editorial requirement is risk, whether aesthetic, intellectual, or both. It has no interest in consensus, comfort, or the careful management of acceptable opinion. Instead, it defines its orientation through a commitment to aesthetic and conceptual boldness, foregrounding friction, contradiction, and interpretive openness.

The Unsafe Journal functions simultaneously as archive and living site of discourse. If The Unsafe House is the space, the journal is the voice, positioning artistic autonomy, disagreement, and discomfort not as obstacles to culture but as necessary conditions for its development.
